Shirley “Oma” Eckert, age 76, a resident of Phillips, WI, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born April 29, 1949, to parents James and Ingeborg Sherlock in Milwaukee, WI.
Shirley graduated from South Milwaukee High School in 1967. She met and married the love of her life James Eckert on December 29, 1973. She worked at Marquip as a Customer Service Representative for many years.
Shirley loved to play card games. She enjoyed card stamping and sending cards to anyone and everyone to help them celebrate. She loved all cats, especially her Ellie!
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband James; parents: James and Ingeborg Sherlock; and her grandmother: Albine “Omi” Laube. She is survived by her beloved cat Ellie; her children and grandchildren: Brian (Stacy) Swantz, Jacob and Anna; Jody Eckert, Mikenna, Brianna, Jared, Kaden, and Kiandra; Justin (Sarah) Eckert, Gage, Ethan, Brooke, and Mataya; great grandchildren: Dalton, Isabella, Kynlee, Bryxton, Gracelynn, and Easton; siblings: Gary (Dawn) Sherlock; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Diane (Richard) Drong, Tom (Debbie) Eckert, Bob Eckert, Doreen Eckert; she is further survived by her “Auntie” Helma Radtke and numerous other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, at Victory Christian Center in Phillips, WI, Visitation at 5:00pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 6:00pm. Inurnment will take place Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Lakeside II Cemetery in Phillips, WI.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Shirley’s honor can be directed to Victory Christian Center in Phillips, WI.
