Shirley Jean Pipher Fair, age 67, of 34600 McFadden Rd. Freeport died suddenly Monday, November 10, 2025, at Trinity Hospital Twin City, in Dennison.
Born July 7, 1958, in Olney, Illinois she was a daughter of Mary Irene Anderson Pipher Hatcher of Freeport and the late Emery Albert Pipher.
Shirley graduated from Cambridge High School in 1980. Prior to moving to the Freeport area, she worked at Canon A&W and Ohio Bureau of Employment Services both in Cambridge.
Shirley married Scott Vernon Fair November 1,1984 and devoted her life to taking care of her family. She was a full-time farmer's wife and mother and loved helping her husband with all types of projects around the farm. She enjoyed helping her children with their 4H projects, band events and FFA activities. Shirley also was a self-employed cleaning professional and worked at Schoenbrunn Health Care Center for a year. Sadly, Scotty preceded her in death on September 4, 2011. After his passing, she assumed his term as township trustee and continued to faithfully serve in that position. She also became an assistant manager and played an integral role in the reopening of the Deersville General Store.
Surviving is her son Benjamin Fair of Dublin; a daughter Jennifer (Kevin) Hall of Freeport; granddaughters Gloria Pipher and Olivia Hall; grandsons Jesse (Courtney) Pipher and Gavin Hall; great-grandsons Trey and Grayson Pipher, a brother Wayne (Lisa) Pipher of Byesville; her sister Brenda Pipher of Hot Springs, AR, her daughter-in-law Audra Pipher of New Philadelphia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and father, she was preceded in death by her son Steven L Pipher, stepfather Lawrence Eugene Hatcher, her in-laws Robert Vernon Fair and Xerxa Murlene Baumgardner Fair, her sisters Marlene, Donna, and Karen.
Services will be held Friday, November 14, 2025, at 1 pm in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High St, Freeport with Minister Tim Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Patterson Cemetery in Deersville. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 11 am to 1 pm.
