Hume --- Shirley Anne Barone, a former resident of Hume and a kind gentle soul, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in her home surrounded by her loving children. She was born on October, 16, 1934 in Perry, a daughter of the late Charles and Erma Bartlett Ferris. She married Louis P. Barone who predeceased her.
Shirley grew up with a warm heart and a quiet strength that carried her through a life filled with love, family and grace. In her younger years, Shirley found joy on the golf course and in the excitement of greyhound and horse races.
Shirley spent her early career at the Perry Knitting Mill before serving as an office manager for several dentist offices where her compassion and steady presence left a lasting impression of those she worked with and care for.
Her gentle demeanor, warm smile and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Surviving are her children, Susan (Dennis) Vallance, Linda Zanghi, Donna (Andrea) Morris, David (Nicole Hutchison) Emmons, a daughter-in-law, Susie, her stepchildren, Mark (Katrina) Barone and Monica Barone. She was a devoted grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to many, each of whom brought her immeasurable pride and joy.
In addition to her husband and her parents she was predeceased by a cherished son, William “Bill” Emmons and six siblings.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in West Perry Cemetery, West Perry.

Shirley had a love for reading and would like everyone to escape in a good book and memorials, if desired, are requested to a library of the donor’s choice.
