Shirley Marie Guidry Gunckel passed away in Kenner, LA on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at the home of her beloved sister Theresa Sbisa at the age of 94. She was born in St. Martin Parish somewhere on the banks of the Bayou Teche. She will be deeply missed, and she will be remembered as a loving mom, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Survivors include her children Karen Roy (Clyde), Joseph Asher Gunckel III, Timothy Alexis Gunckel (Kathy), Thomas Anthony Gunckel, and James Daniel Gunckel (Tula). She is also survived by her beloved sister Theresa Divine Guidry Sbisa, her sister-in-law Delores Cousans, her grandchildren Julie Roy, Jennifer Roy, Ashley Drewes (Eric), and Amy Gunckel, great-grandchildren Sophia Crappel and Jace Drewes, a special neighbor and friend who she thought of like a daughter, Rose Peschlow, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph Asher Gunckel, Jr., her father Alexis J. Guidry, her mothers Georgina Landry Guidry and Theresa Dore Guidry, her brother Michel Ned Guidry and his wife Anna Belle, her sister Georgie Rodriguez and her husband Lionel, and her brother-in-law Ronald Sbisa. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph, Timothy, Thomas, James Gunckel, Clyde Roy, and Alden Guidry. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Rodriguez, Tony Peschlow, Corey Duplechin, and Gary Schully. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner, LA on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. The celebrant will be Fr.
