Shirley R. Hawkins

Shirley Roberta Hawkins (nee Barton), of Lake St. Louis, MO, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the age of 89. Beloved daughter of the late Golden M. and Goldie V. Barton; cherished grandmother of Myles Young and Meagan (Jesse) Knickmeyer; treasured great-grandmother of Kindzley Young, Weston Young, Jack Knickmeyer, Finn Knickmeyer, and Wendy Knickmeyer; dear sister of Lester O. (Nancy) Barton; she is also survived by her special daughter-in-law Denise (David) Stamburski, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Shirley preceded in death by her sons, Terry L. Young and Leonard Scott Hawkins; and her brother, Melford C. (Mary) Barton.

Shirley was an avid reader who loved spending quiet moments with a good book. She enjoyed the fun and fellowship of playing Bingo, and nothing brought her more joy than her great-grandchildren—her “babies,” who held a special place in her heart. She loved music, found peace in gardening, and could often be found tending to her flowers or watching the birds in her yard.

A devoted shopper, Shirley especially enjoyed browsing name brands at Macy’s and Dillard’s. Her faith was central to her life; she loved the Lord deeply and was ready to meet Jesus.

Shirley was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Shirley's name to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
