Shirley Holland Hodges

Shirley Holland Hodges age 87 of Rocky Mount passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 9, 1936 a daughter of the late Walter Thomas Holland and Elsie Holland Nash. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Curtis Hodges; son, Michael Curtis Hodges.

Mrs. Hodges was a charter member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church and was the owner of Heritage Flooring and Interiors (Holland and Hodges Drapery). 

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Hodges; grandchildren, Makayla Vaught (Jonathon Graybill), Allison Brown (Nathan), Shannon Hodges; great-grandchildren, Elijah & Tyler Brown and to arrive in July, Baby Vaught; daughter-in-law, Anita Hodges. She is also survived by many other family members and friends.

Special thanks to Carilion Hospice, Becky Young and granddaughter Makayla Vaught for loving her so well during her two weeks with hospice care.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Furnace Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Lawhorn and Pastor Philip Bramblet officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery next to her husband. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM. at the church.
