Shirley Ann Hyles, affectionately known as Nana, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024, at the age of 90. She was born on January 11, 1934, in Milford, Texas, to James Arthur Airheart and Edna Lorene Speer.
Shirley grew up in the charming town of Frost, Texas, where she attended Frost High School. On January 12, 1952, the day after she turned 18, Shirley married the love of her life, Boyd Ray Hyles. Together, they shared 56 beautiful years filled with love and happiness.
For over 50 years, Shirley dedicated herself to her career as a secretary, working with Central Maloney, Pride Products, and various other companies. Her work ethic and dedication were admired by all who knew her.
A devoted member of Midlothian First Methodist Church, Shirley found great joy in volunteering her time, especially with the Sunday School. She was known for her warm smile and kind heart, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Shirley had a passion for life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed drinking sweet tea, reading books, teaching her grandkids how to cook, walking her dogs, and attending silver sneakers class. Her favorite times were those spent chasing around her grandkids and great-grandkids, who were the light of her life.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her son, Brian Ray Hyles and wife, Lynn Ann; her grandchildren, Brandon Ray Hyles, Logan Browning Hyles, and Lauren Briann Hyles; and her great-grandchildren, Brady Ray Hyles, Bryce Henry Hyles, and Haylee Jade Hyles. Shirley is also survived by her sister, Jimmie Lou McClure and husband, Jimmy, and her numerous nephews and nieces.
Shirley joins in heaven her beloved husband, Boyd Ray Hyles; her parents, James Arthur Airheart and Edna Lorene Speer; her sister, Patsy Jean Hayes; her daughter, Sherry Lynn Hyles; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Family and friends remember Shirley for her humor and the love she shared with everyone. Her granddaughter Lauren Briann fondly recalls the time Shirley left her a voicemail to let her know she left her phone sitting next to her, and the time that she totaled three different cars while driving in her own driveway.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Shirley's amazing grandson Logan Browning Hyles, who cared for her during the final three years of her life, and to Bristol Hospice for their compassionate care in her final moments.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 6 to 8 in the evening. The family and friends will gather for a service at 5 pm at Midlothian Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 10:30 in the morning at Italy Cemetery.
Shirley Ann Hyles will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
