Shirley Leeke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hampton Funeral Homes - Hillsdale on Dec. 15, 2025.
Shirley Ann Leeke, born on November 10, 1941, in Jackson, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on December 13, 2025, in Hillsdale, Michigan, just two months after the loss of her beloved husband, Horace Alfred "Al" Leeke. Their passing so close together is a testament to a love and bond that spanned a lifetime. She was the daughter of the late Lillian Kaiser.
She was the devoted wife of Al Leeke for 57 years. The two were married on October 26, 1968, and built a life centered around family, love, and unwavering support for one another. To those who knew them, Shirley and Al were inseparable.
Shirley's greatest pride and joy in life was raising her children. She poured her heart into motherhood, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and deep connection. She coached softball, cheered loudly from the sidelines, and was endlessly proud of every accomplishment-big or small-of her children and grandchildren. Those looking in from the outside often described the Leeke family as deeply bonded, a reflection of the foundation Shirley and Al worked so hard to build.
Shirley was known for the way she cared for those around her. Her kitchen was always busy, and no one ever left her home hungry. Cooking was one of the many ways she showed love, and her home-cooked meals brought family together time and time again. She also had a natural flair for color and creativity. Her home reflected her vibrant spirit, filled with warmth, personality, and little touches of sparkle that made it unmistakably hers.
Above all else, Shirley lived with love and intention. She often reminded those around her that "life is just too short," a phrase she didn't just say, but lived by-loving fiercely, giving generously, and holding her family close.
Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Horace Alfred "Al" Leeke, and her brother Richard "Dick" Simpson. She is survived by her seven children: Kammy Hollow of Somerset, Michigan; Tammy Williams of Allen, Texas; Jacqueline (Clyde) Billips of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Kirk "Jeep" Perry of Hillsdale, Michigan; Wendy (Raul) Perry-Bonner of Jackson, Michigan; Danial (Joanne) Leeke of Jackson, Michigan; and Heather Witte of Napoleon, Michigan. Shirley was a cherished grandmother to 17 grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to 20 great-grandchildren, each of whom she absolutely adored.
According to Shirley's wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held at this time. She will be remembered and celebrated in the hearts of those who loved her.
