Shirley Jean McDaniel

Shirley Jean McDaniel 71, of Yukon, Oklahoma was born on July 17, 1951 in Hugoton, Kansas. She is the daughter of Keith Armand and Faye Lula (Crosky) McDaniel. She went to walk the golden streets of heaven on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Bellevue Nursing Home, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Shirley was a graduate of SWOSU in Sayre, Oklahoma in Laboratory Sciences. She performed phlebotomy and lab test, as she worked her way through college as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. Shirley had been sort of a jack of all trades helping people in several capacities, she managed the Flamingo Motel in Elk City, Oklahoma, and many more apartment complexes for disabled residents, and trailer park management from all over tri-state area Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. She had experiences as scientist at NL Baroid, and lead scientist on experiment with Gasahol plant in Hydro, Oklahoma. She was an active substitute teacher for years at various public schools.
Shirley helped out at the Elk City detention center, and was the Sayre Prison system administrative assistant, as well as TSA Will Rogers FAA Security in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She worked for the Mustang Public Schools as a special needs bus aide until her passing.
Shirley had many hobbies; to actively walking her dog that was spoiled with affection and attention, a thrift shop fanatic, and garage sale, and rummage sale enthusiast. She had a hobby of growing house plants, to include planting gardens for harvesting many fruits and vegetables. Shirley loved to grow things and over the holidays, she loved to cook up a batch of bread for anyone in the neighborhood, who was needing a helping hand with cooking. She had her daughter several times out or holidays and cook and wrap bread for Christmas gifts for friends and family. Shirley loved to watch her grandchildren grow and watch them participate in their plays, athletic events, and graduations.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2022 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma. Deacon Bill Roesch will officiate. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Shirley was an avid dog lover, and mother of two daughters, Tana Flies of Brooklyn, New York, and Celeste Stewart and her husband, Stewart of Mustang, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; Lauren (Stewart) Wrobel; Heath Jr. Stewart of Mustang, Oklahoma and Jacquelyn Stewart of Mustang, Oklahoma.
Preceded in death by her parents, Keith Armand and Faye Lula (Crosky) McDaniel.
The family would like to thank all of those that provided wonderful and loving care to Shirley during her time of need.
