Shirley Kay Moore passed away at the age of 83 in Lindale, Texas on February 20, 2026 surrounded by family and loved ones. She succumbed to Parkinson's and dementia, but her memory and love will keep her alive for generations to come.

Born in Pert, Texas on January 7, 1943, Shirley was the first born of eight Kirkwood children. She was born to Oren and Sally Kirkwood and quickly jumped into the role of the helpful big sister with the birth of her seven siblings. Shirley was raised in Palestine, Texas and a graduate of Palestine High School. Shirley found the love of her life and married Harry Moore on August 31, 1962. They eventually settled in Longview, Texas before retiring to Burleson, Texas. The two were happily married for 39 years before Harry died of cancer. Harry and Shirley were the definition of best friends who found each other and built an incredible life together. Shirley worked for the telephone company as an operator for several years before becoming a homemaker and raising their two children, Tracy and Kirk. As the kids grew up and became independent, Shirley worked for Jordan Country Day School taking care of countless children. Her love of children was evident. The family lovingly built their life in Longview, Texas for decades before moving to Burleson, Texas. Shirley has been living in Lindale for the past 10 years with Kevin and Tracy surrounded by grandchildren and great grandchildren where she attended countless sporting events and school activities. When she wasn't in Lindale, she would travel to Fort Worth to see Kirk and Toni and cheer on Nicholas and Kailyn in their many golf and dance endeavors. Adoringly referred to as Nanno, she was so loved by all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren who helped to keep her incredibly busy. Nanno, we will always remember your back scratches, encouraging words, warm hugs, and how much it meant for you to love us "more than peanut butter" because if you knew Shirley, that was quite a lot! Shirley is finally whole, healed, and at peace, and we all know that Harry was there waiting for her with open arms. Our entire family is devastated with the loss of Shirley, but we find comfort in knowing that Harry and Shirley are together again.

Shirley is survived by her two children and their spouses, Tracy and Kevin Ragan of Lindale, and Kirk and Toni Moore of Octavia, her grandchildren and their spouses, Alex and Justin Powell, Tyler and Marissa Ragan, Nicholas Moore, and Kailyn Moore, and her eight great grandchildren, Landry, Caroline, Savannah, Porter, Tyson, Jack, Truett, and Henry. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Lela Calloway, Ann Platt, James and Sherry Kirkwood, Patsy and Gene Black, Mark Kirkwood, and Tammy and David Young and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Moore, her parents Oren and Sally Kirkwood, and her sister, Carol Lively.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Avir Nursing Home in Lindale and Heart to Heart Hospice for the compassionate care and support during her last days.

Visitation will be held at Rosewood Park on Wednesday February 25,2026 at 1O:00 AM with funeral services to follow immediately after at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to either Michael J. Fox Foundation or St. Jude's Children Research.
