She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Virginia Koston, Marilyn Wirth, Judith Vohls; one brother, Lawrence Snider; and one, grandchild, Christopher Murphy.
She is survived by a son, Tim (Marilou) Murphy, of Galva, Illinois; and a daughter, Susie Murphy, of Kingston, Arkansas. She leaves behind two grandchildren: Taryn (Brad) Cirks and Tom (Jenni) Murphy; four great-grandchildren, Jay Johnson and Kaden Cirks, T.J. and Sara Murphy. Her twin sister, Sharon Thurwanger; sisters-in-law, Loretta Vaughn and Josie Snider, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Shirley was raised in Kewanee and graduated from Wethersfield High School. She was a self-taught artist in watercolors, quilling, as well as crochet and counted cross stitch.
She was a wonderful Mom and wife and loved having her family together. All who knew her knew the sweetness of her nature.
Cremation is entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
