On November 9, 2025, the gates of Heaven opened to welcome Shirley Ann Smith Myers, as she took her first birth into everlasting life. Shirley was born on September 23, 1942, in Vicksburg, MS. She was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Shirley was a member of McClendon Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the senior adult choir. She was known for her love of all wildlife from feeding the deer in her yard to caring for every stray animal alongside the numerous house pets including her dear cat, Squirt. An avid sports enthusiast, you would catch her cheering on the ULM Warhawks, Saints and LSU Tigers during football season. Shirley retired after 30 years from the Monroe City Courthouse. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Alton Smith and Ella Massey Smith; and sister, Peggy Smith.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 60 years, Charles Ray Myers; children, Billy Myers and Judi McGough and husband Buddy; known as Maw-maw to her grandchildren, Tyler Chevallier, Chase McGough (Sarah), and Cara Cole (Nathan); and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Jessica Thompson and Yolanda Beard for taking such amazing care of Shirley during the recent years. We would also like to thank the doctors and nurses in the CVRU Unit at St. Francis Medical Center for the kindness and compassion they had treating Shirley during her last days.
Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 7:00PM Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
