Shirley Marie Otness

1937 - 2025

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Shirley Marie Otness, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 13, 2025, at the Boden Senior Care Facility in Apple Valley, Minnesota. She was born on July 13, 1937, in St. Paul, Minnesota, and was 87 years of age at her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marie Thompson, and loving husband, Stanley, of 31 years.

She is survived by her son Leon (wife Beth), daughter Lynda (husband James), and grandchildren Chloe, Eric, Jacob, Anders, Benjamin, and Joshua.

She was known for her loving, kind, generous personality and unwavering dedication to her family. Shirley spent her career as a Speech Therapist for both the Fosston and Farmington school systems in Minnesota. She loved music and was part of the music programs in both high school and college, as well as a soloist in her local church. Her deep faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, guided her throughout her life.

A memorial service will be held on January 31st at the White Funeral Home in Farmington, Minnesota, with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm. Flowers may be ordered through Rosemount Floral. The family requests donations in Shirley's memory be sent to Berean Baptist Church in Burnsville, Minnesota.
