Shirley Mae Rains, beloved daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Huldis Jacobson Smith Geary, peacefully entered into rest on June 21, 2024, at The Lodge of Warner Robins. She was 85 years old.
Shirley was born on August 7, 1938, in Dickinson, North Dakota. As a young lady, she began her career at a local newspaper press before embracing the life of a military spouse. Traveling the world, Shirley lived in both Guam and Europe. When summertime arrived, she cherished the annual visits with her Aunt Norma and family.
For several years, Shirley served as a civilian administrator on Robins Air Force Base until her retirement. In post-retirement, she worked as a sales representative at Avon.
Shirley was of the Christian faith and a devoted member of the Bonaire Church. She was also an ardent supporter of Florida State football. Shirley possessed a keen intellect and enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles, often spending her quiet moments immersed in solving them.
She leaves behind cherished memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Shirley Mae Rains, was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Roberts; and her son, Mike Rains; as well as her brother, Dale Smith.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her nieces, Wendy Fuentes (Rudy), and Shelly Schlafmann (Brent); and nephews, Cory Smith (Lynelle), and Darby Smith (Stephanie); son-in-law, Jason Roberts (Jenny); as well as former husband, Lloyd Rains.
