Shirley M. Schaffer, 89, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Arden Courts, Allentown. She was the wife of Richard C. Schaffer, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Laubach) Nuss. She was a former member of St. Francis of Assisi R. C. Church, Allentown. In her earlier years, she worked as a mail clerk for Mack Trucks, Inc. and later as a cashier at the former F. W. Woolworth Company. She was an avid crocheter and knitter, especially knitting Christmas stockings for her children and making Bucilla stockings for most of her grandchildren. She enjoyed various crafts, dining out with her family, and she had a keen interest in personal finance programs. Along with her husband Richard, they loved camping at various campgrounds, traveling to New England, and jitterbug dancing. She will be remembered for her love of ABBA's "Dancing Queen", various Bee Gee songs and Cyndi Lauper's, "Time After Time".

Survivors: husband Richard; sons Matthew J. and his wife Terri of Palmyra, VA, Michael P. and his wife Cheryl of Slatington, John C. and his wife Angela of Wellington, OH; daughters Natalie L., wife of the late Larry Ziegenfuss of Laurys Station, Lisa A., wife of Marvin Dengler of Neffs; sister Betty, wife of the late Carl Urffer of Emmaus; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother George Jr. and a great granddaughter Kassandra.

Private services will be held at the mausoleum of Cedar Hill Memorial Park.

Memorials can be considered to the Alzheimer's Association, c/o the funeral home.
