Shirley Alice Selisker, age 90 of Crosby, passed away on November 3, 2025 at the Heartwood Care Center in Crosby. She was born on June 25, 1935 in Brainerd to Theodore and Lila LaVoie. She graduated from Brainerd High School, class of 1953. She married her high school sweetheart, Bill Selisker, in December of 1955.
Shirley was employed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church rectory in Crosby. While still working at the rectory, she started attending classes at Brainerd Community College, where she earned her AA degree. She was proud of a nearly 30 year career at Crow Wing County Community Services where she worked her way from financial worker to financial supervisor.
After retirement, Bill and Shirley purchased a second home in Winter Haven, FL. She loved spending time in Florida.
Shirley is survived by her children, Timothy (Stephanie) Selisker of Burnsville, Krisann (Tom) Gray of Crosby and Gregory (Kristen) Selisker of Baxter; three sisters, Theona Dunemann of Brainerd, Bev (Gary) Roach of Merrifield, Patt (Jim) DeZurik; twelve grandchildren, Blaire Selisker, Brooke (Zach) Vidlund, Sara and Ashley Houge, Kelsie (Josh) Blume, Blake (Tyler) Calderwood, Logan Brand, Abbrielle (Luke) Schaper, Samuel, Molly, Elizabeth and Steven Selisker; and nine great grandchildren.
Preceding Shirley in death are her parents; her husband, William; her son, Mark; grandson, Brandon Houge; a brother, Ted “Butch” LaVoie; and sisters, Diane O’Mara and Betty Domin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby. Visitation will be on Thursday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.
