Shirley M. Sherman,89, of Clyde, OH passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at her home. Shirley was born on January 31, 1936 to Peter P. And Helen G. (Overmyer) Gurney in Fremont, OH. She married Donald J. Sherman on May 31, 1958 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clyde, OH and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2011.
Shirley worked for Heinz for twenty-five years until she retired in 1998. Shirley enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband Donald to wherever their hearts desired. She loved to spend time with her family. She also enjoyed gambling, casinos, playing cards, NASCAR, music, drinking coffee, dancing and watching Ohio State football.
Shirley is survived by her children, Ronald L. (Marsha) Sherman, Debra K. (Clifton) Carl, Michael T. (Char) Sherman, Randy J. (Angela) Sherman all of Fremont, Jeffrey S. (Cathy) Sherman of Clyde, Kimberly S. (Allen) Crowell, Gregory W. (Julie) Sherman and Laurie A. Hoffman all of Fremont; twenty-eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; siblings, Betty Zoellner, Toledo, OH, Clifford (Nancy) Gurney, Lakeside, OH, Mary Walters, NC, Larry (Bev) Gurney, Sycamore, OH, Tom (Sarah) Gurney, Findlay, OH.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald J. Sherman; grandson Jacob; great- grandson, Gabriel; brothers, Richard Gurney and Jack Gurney.
Visitation will take place on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wonderly-Horvath-Hanes Funeral Home & Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10:30 – 11 a.m. prior to funeral services at the funeral home.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Rice Township
Memorials can be made in her honor to the American Kidney Foundation.
