Shirley Lou Taylor

1934 - 2023

Shirley Lou Taylor, 88, left this earthly life on Saturday, June 10th, 2023, and is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She faithfully served him her entire life. She is also now forever with the family she has longed for years to see again.
Shirley was born on July 27, 1934 in Winston-Salem to the late Charles E. Taylor and Kathleen D. Taylor. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her six siblings: Helen, Lois, Phyllis, Charles, Jr., Jack, and John; a niece, Shari; two sisters-in-law, Doris and Anne; two brothers-in-law, Jack and Bill. She is survived by thirteen nieces and nephews and their families, whom she loved dearly. Her family was everything to her and she was devoted to each and every member.
Shirley retired from Western Electric. She attended First Pentecostal Holiness Church until her health failed. Many a song was sung in church by her as well as at weddings and funerals. She has a beautiful voice and instilled her love of music into her nieces and nephews through family singing get togethers and her little family choir. She later became director of a forty voice youth choir in her church. Shirley also sang with three nieces in a quartet.
The family would like to thank her faithful home care team who showed much love and dedication over the years. Ruth, Cecil, Bree, Tamar, Kristen, and Tianna...she loved you and we appreciate you so much.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Clemmons Village I for the excellent, compassionate care that you provided for her during the past fifteen months. She felt at home with you.
Lastly, the family would like to thank Novant Health Clemmons Medical Center for being so attentive to Shirley and for helping make her transition peaceful. Thank you for being so accommodating to the family during the three days that they were there.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by the Rev. Tim Wolfe.
