Shirley H. Van Schaik, age 90, of North Wilmington, DE, and formerly of Claymont, DE passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025 at The Lorelton, Wilmington, DE.
Shirley was born in Allegheny County, PA, daughter of the late, Russell M. Hill and Gladys Lucille (Chestney) Hill. She was a 1953 graduate of Shippensburg High School in Shippensburg, PA. Shirley worked as a secretary for DuPont, Goorland & Mann, Cigna and Brandywine School District. She enjoyed spending time at her Dewey Beach condo, especially in the spring and fall.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard A. Van Schaik, who passed away in 2009, son, Bryan in 1965, sister, Gladys Adams and brother, Russell Hill.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Debra McMullen; son, Jeff Van Schaik; stepdaughter, Debra Tullio (Tom) and their son, Jerry Sheridan (Amy) and their children; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Service and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
