Shirley Gayle Wimpy, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 29, 1934, in Foss, Oklahoma, to Homer Gale and Lilly Lois Cotter.

Shirley married Billy Harrell Wimpy in Elk City, Oklahoma in 1951, and they spent 61 loving years together before his passing. They dedicated their lives to one another, and together raised four children: Randy Wimpy (wife, Andie), Don Wimpy (wife, Cristy), Dennis Wimpy, and Deana Price.

She was a wonderful Southern cook and regularly brought loved ones together around her table. Her family cherishes their memories of many dinners and holidays spent together. Never one to sit still, Shirley was a homemaker, tour guide and a volunteer at her local hospital, graciously giving her time to those in need. A devoted Christian, Shirley’s faith was at the center of her life. Her dedication to family, faith, and service to others left an indelible mark on those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her strong character, for always speaking her mind, and deep love for her family.

Shirley is survived by her children, brother Gary Cotter (wife, Debby), grandchildren Drew, Kevin (wife, Cayce), Jonathan (husband, Charles), Kacey (wife, Michelle), and Laura, and great-grandchildren Ava, Peyton, Wyatt, and Summer.

The family will hold a private graveside service on December 6, 2024, where Shirley will be laid to rest with her husband Bill Wimpy.
