Shirley Rae (Deken) Winternheimer, 91, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on November 30, 1932 in Evansville, Indiana. She was the daughter of Ruby (McCann) Deken and Raymond Deken. Shirley graduated from the Academy of the Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana in 1950. She worked for Indiana Bell for 13 years and Otto/Taylor Drug for 13 years.
Shirley married Roy Winternheimer on October 17, 1953 and had the joy of raising their two children, Mark and Cheryl. Their family moved to Floyds Knobs, Indiana in 1966, where Shirley would live for 52 years. They moved to Madison, Indiana in 2017 to be near their daughter. Shirley loved sending cards to friends and family for every occasion, playing bingo and going to the casino. Without a doubt, the greatest joy in her life was her family.
Shirley will be missed by her loving husband of 71 years, Roy Winternheimer of Madison, Indiana (formerly Chandler, Indiana); son, Mark Winternheimer and his wife, Angela, of Sellersburg, Indiana; daughter, Cheryl Roberts and her husband, David, of Madison, Indiana; grandchildren, Jesse Roberts (Danielle), Tregan Roberts (Allison), Hana Ebeling (Luke), Julian Winternheimer (Helen), Grace Winternheimer, Sarah Winternheimer, Henry Winternheimer; great-grandchildren, Silas, Dawson, Hadley, Wyatt, Emmett, Atlas; brother-in-law, Gene Gilles (Betty); and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry, Thomas, Marvin, Jerry and Donald Deken; and sisters, Judy Gilles and Delores Deken.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church - Chapel (3033 Martin Road, Floyds Knobs). Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
