Sidney (Sid) Allen Hagans, 72, of Hickory, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
Born July 6, 1950, he was the son of Hazel Almond Hagans and the late Earl Hagans.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Walter Lewis Hagans and Julia Earl Hagans; and his maternal grandparents: Homer Vance Almond and Vetra Wilma Sasser.
Sid graduated from Albemarle High School and Lenoir Rhyne University before having a career in sales. He earned his Eagle Scout while growing up in Albemarle. He was a member of the DPMA of Charlotte and the Piedmont Educational Foundation at Lenoir Rhyne University for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hickory for 35 years, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, a member of the Baptist Men Group and various other committees over the years. Sid was an avid supporter of Lenoir Rhyne University Basketball and Football teams.
Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife, Judith (Judy) Ramsey Hagans; children: Patricia J. (P.J.) Krause, Thomas (T.J.) Carter; grandchildren: Justin, Lisa, Nicole and Johanna Krause, Jaden Thomas Carter; sister, Delores(Keith) Eicher; and a nephew, Michael (Ashleigh) Wolfe, Jr.
A service to celebrate Sid's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Hickory with the Rev. Joshua Barrett officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 12:30 – 2:00 PM.
