Sidney Bacon, age 87, of
Gary, IN, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023.
Sidney is survived by his wife of over 18 years, Carol Bacon (nee Olds); 2 children: Terry Wayne (Melissa) Bacon and Christine (Omolar Doss) Bacon; brothers: Louis Bacon, Henry Bacon and Lionel (Christi) Bacon; sisters: Clara Ballenger, Rosilee Bacon-Adams, Ann McGlown and Heidi (Curtis) Watkins; his many grandkids and great-grandkids; special nephew, Michael Merriweather; and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends.
Sidney was preceded in death by his son, Sidney Earl Bacon; parents: Clinton and Jessie Bacon, Sr.; sister, Azerlee Merriweather; brothers: Thatchet Bacon, Clinton Bacon, Jr. and William "Bill" Bacon.
Sidney was born and raised in
Sardis, Mississippi. He was a retired millwright at U.S. Steel with over 28 years of service. Sidney was also a longtime member of U.S.W. Local #1066. He loved fishing, tending to his gardens and riding his beloved horses. Sidney was also very passionate about cooking for his family, friends and co-workers at the mill through the "Black Hen Pantry". He will be missed by all who knew him.

Merrillville, IN, 46410 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM with the Memorial Service beginning at 3:00 PM with Pastor Dexter Harris officiating.
