Sidney H. Blessing, 83, of Temperance, Michigan was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 7, 2025, while surrounded by his family. Sidney was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 31, 1942, to Harold and Virginia (Jones) Blessing. In October of 1963, he married the love of his life, Linda (Hearn). Sidney and Linda met at the Ohio School for the Deaf in Columbus, Ohio, and moved to Toledo, Ohio, where they raised their three children.
Sidney worked for Taystee Bread in downtown Toledo for 18 years and then went on to work for General Motors Company, where he was a member of the UAW Local 14 until his retirement in 2004. Sidney enjoyed fishing and working on cars. A highlight of his life was being a part of the pit crew for his brother, Bob's race team. He played football while attending the Ohio School for the Deaf, leading to his devoted love for the college football season, watching his OHIO STATE BUCKEYES. During the NASCAR season, he enjoyed watching Jeff Gordon or any Chevrolet car beat a Ford, which would always put a smile on his face. Sidney always tried to be a comedian, telling goofy jokes for his family and friends, creating funny faces for his grandchildren, or inventing creative handshakes for a fun way to connect with someone. When Sidney walked into a room, he was determined to make you smile in one way or another. Sidney was also a member of Northwest Baptist Church in Toledo.
Sidney is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Linda; daughters Cathy Sanders, Wendy (Doug) Cline and son, Michael (Betsy) Blessing; grandchildren Honor Sanders (fiancé Anmol Wadhwani), Alexa (Alex) Spencer, Austin Sanders, Alicia (Matthew) Karpinski, Luke Cline, Robert (Cassidy) Jeffries, William Jeffries, Michael Blessing II; great-grandchildren Grace and Henry Spencer, Kamryn and Maverick Bollin, Macie, Brantley and Olivia Jeffries and another great-granddaughter on the way; sister Gail Konesni; brother Robert (Sheila) Blessing and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ronald Sanders Jr.
Visitation will be held at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 North Main Street, Sylvania, Ohio 43560, on November 22, 2025, from 10:00 am until the service at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
A special thank you to Heartland Hospice, nurse Debbie and social worker Tracy for their loving care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for any donations be made to Heartland Hospice 1070 N. Monroe St. Suite B, Monroe, MI 48162 and/or Northwest Baptist Church 3906 West Alexis Rd., Toledo, OH 43623. Online condolences to reebfuneralhome.com

Linda, this is Julie Crossen. I am so sorry to hear of your husband Sidney´s passing. You are in my prayers. I will not be able to attend the service on Nov 22 because I will have surgery to have my right knee replaced on Nov 13. I probably will not be able to get around then. Take it easy and remember Sidney is at peace now.
