Sidney Carl Pierog, 90, Aberdeen resident and former Millwright at ITT Rayonier Pulp Mill, died Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam, WA.
Sidney was born on November 30, 1935 in Port Townsend, WA to Carl Joseph and Lula (Niemcziek) Pierog. They moved to Cosmopolis soon after and he was a proud “Cosi Termite”. He graduated from Aberdeen’s JM Weatherwax High School in 1954.
On April 6, 1956, Sidney married Doris J. Waite at her parents home on Forsythe Street in North Aberdeen. They would later build their home using lumber from the old Alexander Young Elementary School in North Aberdeen. Doris resides at the family home.
He went to work for ITT Rayonier as a mill wright until its closing. He then went to Grays Harbor College and was hired by Lamb’s Grays Harbor for the next couple of years.
He was a member of the Polish Club. He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking and photography.
Sidney is survived by his wife of 70 years, Doris Pierog of Aberdeen; Three sons: Brad (Sherri) Pierog of Aberdeen, Steve Pierog of Montesano and Todd (Michelle) Pierog of Montesano; two daughters: Katherine (Phil) Kalisch of Cosmopolis and Brenda Pierog of Aberdeen; 10 grandchildren: Paige, Joseph, Meaghan, Stefanie, Whitnie, Sydni, Katie, Kayla, Jon and Hannah; 15 or 16 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Agnes Conrad and Martha Marthe.
There will be a celebration of Sidney’s life Sunday, January 11th, at 1 p.m. in the Cosi Lions Hall, Cosmopolis, Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an Alzheimer’s foundation.
