Silas Jacob Garlington, 24, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025. He was born on February 13, 2001 in San Diego, California to Nathan and Norma (Beck) Garlington.
For the first 3 years of Silas’ life, he lived in San Diego and then in Key West Florida with his mother and father. At 4 years old Silas’s family moved to Independence Missouri and then later to Hiawatha KS where he lived until he graduated High school. While living in Hiawatha Silas made some dear friends, participated in several activities. His favorites were playing with his cousins and running. Silas lived next door to his 4 cousins Seth, Troy, Dillon and Hannah May and would spend hours of his day “doing hoodrat sh** on the rez”. Silas spent many nights, holidays and special days with his extended family and was loved by all. Silas learned about running when he was 9 years old and began his short running career. Silas ran in many organized 5k runs over a period of 9 years, also completing a half-marathon before his freshman year of high school. Silas lettered twice in Cross Country and participated in State Regionals competition for Hiawatha High School. Other notable activities Silas participated in and enjoyed while living in Hiawatha were participating in fundraising for the community Skate Park and Boy Scouts especially the pinewood derby race, He enjoyed the annual Rodeo where he did “Mutton’ Bustin’ and Miniature Bull riding. In 2019 after graduating High School Silas and his family moved to Overland Park, KS and then shortly after Olathe, KS. Silas had worked primarily in general Diesel, Truck and Trailer mechanics and maintenance during his time after High School. He was most recently attending the Aviation Institute of Maintenance to obtain his A&P in aviation and working in the general mechanical and maintenance field.
Silas is survived by his son Elliott, parents Nathan Garlington and Norma Garlington, Maternal Grandparent Memaw Linda Beck, Maternal Grandparents Papa Hank and Grandma Michelle Beck, Paternal Grandparents Nannie Jonnie and Papa Donald Whitley, Grammy Andi, Grandma Becki and many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his extended family grandparents, Papa Steve, Papa John, Grandma Erika and his cousin Cody Garlington.
