Simon Doirin was born on November 1st, 1957, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He was the firstborn of Monthas Doirin and Louitaine Lucilia. He was raised on the peaceful island of La Gonâve, along with his siblings: Macule, Louis, Lucina, Velouse, Jean Claude, Antoine, Emmanuel, Myrtil, and Mirtha Doirin.
From a young age, he was known for his strength and kind spirit. He didn't need many words to make an impact; his actions spoke louder than anything he could say. Simon grew up valuing respect, humility, and hard work—traits that would define him for the rest of his life. He was loved by everyone who knew him for his calm nature and warm sense of humor. His favorite saying, "M pa piyay non," reflected the quiet confidence and dignity that guided how he lived and treated others.
As Simon grew older, his dreams extended beyond the shores of La Gonâve. In 1981, while working as a carpenter, he met a young woman named Fernande St-Bert, with whom he had six children and a stepdaughter. They are: Yvena Leger, the late Richemond Doirin, Junior Doirin, Jean Jules Doirin, Kettelie Doirin, Nerlande Doirin, and the late Chrisla Doirin.
He always wanted more than just comfort for his family. With courage and determination, he decided to migrate to the United States in 1991, not for personal gain, but so his children could have opportunities he never had. Simon will be dearly missed by his sister and brothers-in-laws: Venanthe Doirin, Macula Poulard, Octon Joachin, Marie Flore Lapotre, Jeanfort Saint Juste, and Oleste Pierre Louis.
In this new country, Simon worked hard and stayed humble. No matter how difficult things became, he never complained. He faced every challenge—including years of sickness—with patience and grace. Simon was a devoted father who showed love not through fancy words, but through sacrifices and care. To love him was to feed him—food brought him joy, laughter, and comfort. Even in hard times, he found happiness in the simplest things, especially family meals, playing the piano, and moments of togetherness. In 2019, he found love again and married Rosenette Elysee.
Simon Doirin lived a life of peace, faith, and quiet perseverance. He never argued, never held grudges, and never made enemies. Everyone who met him remembers his gentle smile and respectful manner. Through all his struggles, he remained strong, teaching his children that real strength comes from patience, humility, and love.
He was a man of few words, but his actions told the story of a life well lived. Simon was not only a great father; he was also a great grandfather to nine grandchildren: Jadens Desir, Ashley Doirin, Dolph Doirin, Saelle Doirin, Zaraya Dolce, Malaika Raphael, Josiah Oliver Doirin, Arielle Dolce, and Giannah Rose Doirin. His impact extended far beyond, as he also had over 30 nieces and nephews.
Simon's presence will always be remembered by his daughter and sons-in-law, Roselore Nelson, Malachie Raphael, and Salnave Dolce, not just for what he said, but for who he was: a loving father and grandfather, a humble man, and a true example of quiet greatness. A life of love and sacrifice.
