I first knew him as Coach Johnson at Rosenwald High School in Panama City, Fl.. He taught me the game then and years later, I played for him at Hampton Junior College in Ocala Fl. He also taught the entire basketball team the sport of Golf. He was one of the GREATEST basketball coaches in Florida. He was the best Coach I ever played for......................john McAllister

My first office job out of High School was at The University of Florida, College of Education, Norman Hall 1975. Dr. Johnson's office was on the first floor of Norman Hall. At that time there were only two African Americans in the College of Education (a professor and a secretary). Dr. Johnson was my mentor and always conducted himself as a professional! Over the years I have often mentioned Dr. Johnson and his wife (his wife was my teacher at Santa Fe Community College). I learned about the passing of Dr. Johnson from a dear friend (today) that resides in Gainesville. While I was sad to hear of his passing, I am also glad to hear that Dr. Johnson was in his ninety. God is good! Dr. Johnson, I know you are resting in arms of the Lord!
