Siphanh Vorasane, 85, passed in peace on April 15, 2023 at his home in Bartow with his family by his side. He was born October 5, 1938 in Luang Prabang, Laos, son to Chanda Pakdee and Khampeng Rattana and brother to Phang and Onsy.
Siphanh, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, is survived by his wife of 61 years, Somchanh; sons, Bounleuth, Phouthasin (Soutsalieo), and Sousana; daughters, Aly (Mike) and Nongkhane (Vance); granddaughters, Cecillia, Ciera, Madison, Anisah and Emma; grandsons, Tyler, Alexander, Jeremy, Ethan, Anderson, Owen, and Jayden; and sister, Onsy.
Siphanh was preceded in death by his daughter, Noi, his parents, and sister, Phang.
Siphanh was proud, honorable, and resilient. He was no stranger to the fight to survive. Upon finishing school-and the start of the Vietnam War-he enlisted into the Royal Lao Army. He served as Lieutenant and achieved several accolades for his service. "When your country needs help, you fight for your country. That's the custom," Siphanh once said. It was always his nature to put others before himself. He put his life on the line for the things he believed in. He made sacrifices for the ones he loved.
Siphanh and Somchanh met in 1962 and quickly knew they wanted to start a family. Together, they had six children. Over the course of 61 years, their love and loyalty survived a heroic escape from war, a refugee camp, immigration into America, less than minimum wage jobs, a startup with no business operations experience, and the sudden loss of their first-born child.
Although Siphanh is no longer present in physical form, his love, lessons and legacy continue on through his survivors. He once said, "since I was a child, I vowed to protect my family and give them everything they deserved." He did just that.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Heath Funeral Chapel in Lakeland, FL.
