We will never forget you Filedem since you became like one of us Greeks in your own way. Time will pass but your spirit will always be here with Hellas.

Thank you for all those lovely moments, when we remembered on kalamitsi beach of parts of your book.

P. L. Fermor's book "Mani" inspired my wife and me to spend our honeymoon on the Peloponnese. Of course we passed through Kardamyli. Not wanting to disturb him, we left a book at his door and asked him to sign it. We kept coming back, but the book wasn't there. Finally, with the help of the management of our hotel, Mr. Fermor was so kind to receive us and sign the book. This was Oct. 2010. He was in excellent spirits and said he's working on the third volume of his journey through Europe in the 30s. When we told him that we're from Switzerland he could remember skiing in Adelboden as a youth.

We love his travel books above all others and feel very honoured that he was so kind to receive us strangers. We're looking forward to read his biography and further writings. For his travel outside this world we wish him many encounters with kindred spirits.

What a life! We who cannot hope to actually experience anything approaching it -- and probably won't even enjoy life with health as long as he did -- can certainly experience the wonder vicariously in his writings!

"It is good that Mr. Fermor had the opportunity to live to be 96 years old. The Scriptures say that our days are 70 and if by special mightiness they are 80. (Psalms 90:10). I am sure that you have so many memories of him that will bring you a smile when you think of him. My deepest sympathy yo the family. G.Williams, (Al).
