SHAMSI, Siraj Saleh In Loving Memory of Siraj Saleh Shamsi It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Siraj Shamsi, 90, of Winchester, MA, on August 25, 2025, a man who, like his name, was a radiant light to all who knew him. In Arabic, his name means "light of the sun," and he truly embodied all that was good, warm, and bright in this world. Siraj passed away peacefully with his family by his side, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering optimism that will forever live on in our hearts. Siraj graduated from Northeastern University College of Pharmacy in 1964. He then practiced pharmacy for over 40 years at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and Winchester Hospital. His presence was a comfort to the many patients on his rounds, and he thoroughly enjoyed interacting with fellow clinicians. Siraj's life was a testament to the power of a gentle soul. He never failed to find the good in others, approaching each person and situation with an open heart and a ready smile. His counsel was a source of wisdom, and his laughter could lift the spirits of anyone within earshot. Siraj's generosity knew no bounds. He was a beacon for those in need, offering a helping hand without hesitation and a listening ear without judgment. Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or a simple act of shared joy, he made the world a brighter place for everyone he encountered. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Myrtelina Shamsi of Winchester, MA; and 3 children: Mutahar Shamsi and his wife Gail of Stow, MA, Zulekha Ludwig and her husband Stephen of Newport, RI, and Leyla Fazeela Kimball and her husband Gerald, of Winchester, MA. Siraj leaves 7 grandchildren: Kara, Alexis, Michael, Julia, Collin, Derek, and Samantha. He left a loving family who will carry his light forward, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues who were touched by his profound kindness and grace. Though we grieve his loss, we find solace in the countless memories of his brilliant spirit. As we say goodbye, we commit to honoring his memory by living with the same compassion and warmth that he radiated so effortlessly. May his beautiful soul rest in eternal peace, and may his light continue to shine in the kindness we show to one another.
