Skip (Eurith) Eddy Obituary
Eurith H. Eddy, also known as "Skip" to all, age 103, of Royal Oak, MI, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Trinity Health Grand Haven Hospital. She was born December 12, 1920, in Okemos, MI, to the late Claude and Ethel (Boyd) Hoskins. Skip married James W. Eddy on February 26, 1944, in Okemos, MI, and he preceded her in death on September 15, 1980, after 36 years of marriage.
Skip graduated from Okemos High School, and was a longtime resident of Royal Oak, MI. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak, she served as Deacon, Trustee, and Elder. Skip was very proud of being a Red Jacket volunteer for over 35 years at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, and for delivering Meals on Wheels for many years.
Skip was an enthusiastic walker and could often be seen walking around Royal Oak and attending the city's celebrations. She learned how to play golf from her husband, avidly playing up to her 100th birthday, and was very proud of the many flight trophies she won. When asked her secret to life of reaching the age of 103, she would respond "lots of walking and no tobacco!"
Skip is survived by her children: Roger (Peggy) Eddy of Houston, TX, Mel Eddy of Grand Haven, MI, Marla (Robert) Maletic of Irving, TX, and Stuart (Michele) Eddy of Lapeer, MI; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth John and Ethelda Hempsted; and a brother, Louis Hoskins.
A Graveside Service for Skip will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee (1040 Veterans Oak Grove Dr., Manistee, MI, 49660).
A Memorial Service to Celebrate Skip's Life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Royal Oak (529 Hendrie Blvd., Royal Oak, MI, 48067).
Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church-Royal Oak.
