Ward grew up in Southern California and graduated from Corona Del Mar High School in 1970. He graduated from U.C. Irvine with a Bachelor's degree and had worked as a technical systems sales representative for several companies over the years. More recently, he had worked as the driver of a shuttle bus for people with special needs.
Ward enjoyed spending time outdoors both in the water and in the mountains. He grew up surfing, swimming, playing water polo, and rock climbing. He loved scuba diving and skiing. Ward enjoyed spending time with friends and family and sharing his sense of humor.
He is survived by his sister, Wendy W. Murphy. He was predeceased by his other sister, Heidi W. Franking.

The world lost an extraordinary man on August 2 2025. Ward was amazing in countless ways. Ward was kind incredibly compassionate loving and caring . Ward was encouraging and fun . He had amazing smile. He loved boxers. He loved reading the Bible. He brought love and light and joy into the world. He was a wonderful man. He treated people well. He will be missed. I will do my best to continue to carry on love kindness and compassion as Ward did.
