ELDER, SMITH L. born October 4, 1913 in Venus, New Mexico has passed away December 14, 2012 in Mesquite, Texas. Preceded in death by father, Robert G. Elder; mother, Beulah Chapman Brooks; and wife, Robbie Elder. Dad was an honored veteran of World War II, and served in the Philippines, Japan, Germany, and Vietnam. He retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel from the U.S Army. His country awarded him the Bronze Star Medical with cluster, and the Purple Heart from the Philippines liberation, along with many other awards and commendations. Dad was a loving, generous, and caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather and member of Northlake Baptist Church. Survived by sons, Robert and Michael Elder, Michael, Dickey, and Don Allen; daughter, Sandra Lyon Starr; daughters-in-law, Sally Elder and Susana Elder; granddaughters, Holly Reid, Heidi Sloan, Lisa Sanders, Carina Querobines; grandson, David Querobines; great-granddaughters, Georgia, Mary, and Olivia Reid, Alexis Sanders and Mailey Quirobines. Family will receive friends on December 15, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on December 16, 2012 at 2:30 PM at Restland Memorial Chapel. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veteran's Association.

My condolences go to the family of Mr. Elder. How comforting it is to know that your dear loved one has the wonderful prospect of resuming life again free from all the causes of death and the heartaches it brings.
