Sofia Vigil Alvarez

With deep sadness and faith in God's promise of eternal life, the family of Sofia Alvarez announces her peaceful passing on November 22, 2025, in Whittier, California. Sofia was born on May 24, 1935, in El Paso, Texas, to her beloved parents Rosa Vigil and Antonio Campos, who preceded her in death. A devoted Catholic, Sofia lived a life rooted in prayer, compassion, and unwavering love for her family. She carried a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and trusted in God throughout every chapter of her life. Her gentle spirit, generosity, and steady faith touched all who knew her. Sofia is survived by her six children, whom she cherished deeply: Lupe Lemus (Hector Lemus - deceased), Yolanda Pulido (Carlos Pulido), Carmelo Alvarez, Rosa Alvarez (John Longwell), Sofia Silva (Menno Froese), and Jesse Alvarez (Patricia Alvarez). She is also survived by her loving sister, Emma Lopez. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Lucila Mendoza, Antonio Campos Jr., Carmen Reyes, Maria Elena Blanquez, and Ana Baldenebro. Sofia was blessed with many grandchildren: Hector Lemus, Renee Elisaldez, Ray Huerta, Priscilla Medina, Daniel Pulido, Gabriel Pulido, Vincent Pulido, Samuel Silva, Tizoc Froese, Quetzalcoatl Froese, Itzcoatl Froese, Noel Alvarez, Ashley Alvarez, Dominique Alvarez, Angel Alvarez, Jesse Alvarez Jr., Lauren Alvarez, Richard Alvarez, Jasmine Rivera, Jessica Rivera, and Matthew Rivera. Her great-grandchildren include Isabella Lemus, Hector Alesandro Lemus, Cruz Elisaldez, Santos Elisaldez, Isaac Huerta, Sara Huerta, Ramzi Medina, Calixto Franco, Charlotte Franco, Roman Alvarez, Audrey Alvarez, Koda Menno Froese, Azariah Lauren Harrell, and Elowen Rivera. Sofia lived her life with humility, strength, and devotion. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, prayer, and abiding love.
