Sofia Perry Obituary

Sofia Perry
December 19, 1928 - September 4, 2025

Sofia "Sue" M. Perry, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She was born on December 19, 1928, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, raised at St. Francis Orphanage, and spent most of her adult life in Stratford, Connecticut.
Sue graduated from the University of Bridgeport and dedicated her life career as a registered nurse, specializing in open heart surgeries. Over the years, she cared for countless patients while working at Park City Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital, at Jai-Alai taking care of the athletes, at Peerless Foundry, and many other healthcare facilities across Connecticut as well as in Hollywood, Florida. Her compassion and dedication were evident in every aspect of her work.
Beyond her professional life, Sue was devoted to her community, teaming up with the local fire department and law enforcement, she volunteered at local food banks, supported homeless initiatives, and took an active role in neighborhood crime watch groups. Her generosity and willingness to serve others reflected the values she lived by each day. Sue also enjoyed an active and fulfilling personal life. She competed in the Fairfield Bowling League; and she loved playing baseball, golf and tennis. These pastimes brought her much happiness and lasting friendships.
Sofia was preceded in death by her long-time companion John DiPallo, husbands George Angell and John Perry, and her beloved son, Jeffrey D. Perry. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Jon D. Perry of Stratford and Jordan D. Perry Sr. of Bridgeport; her sister, Lillian Cotto of Bridgeport; her cherished grandchildren, Alicia Perry-Rosa, Melissa Perry, Jordan Perry Jr., Alex Perry, and Brittany Scinto; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Christiana Rosa, Annabella Rosa, Brian Rosa, Angelina Rosa, Nathaniel Goodall, Isabella Tobeck, Nicholle Perry, Alex Perry Jr., Gala Perry, and Brayden Scinto.
Her family and friends will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
A memorial service will be held at St. Michael's Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Avenue, Stratford, Connecticut. Further details will be shared by the family.

Aunt Sue was a wonderful person and an inspiration for Family and Friend as well. She never forgot anyone. She always made it a point to send you a card on your birthday or check in on you when you were sick. She was always great to all of us when we were kids. Always a pleasure to see and talk to. She will be greatly missed by all of us! We love you and will see you again someday on the other side.

Lydia's recollection of Sue's scratchy voice confirmed for me that she was my softball coach back in 1959. She and John guided our thirteen year olds and teenagers so successfully we won the New England Softball CYO championship. She and John lived on Main Street near the corner of North Avenue; I went to St Patrick's school where Paula Gatto and I joined the team. Okay, so we had some ringers from Good Counsel, but that was how the game was played. (My grandfather was a ringer for Niagara University, Rocky Farrell.) But then high school came along and that was the end of my career in right field. I never knew she was a nurse although I do remember her young sons. She was a dynamo and I will reflect upon her good works and competitive spirit and add prayers for her and her family. Thank you Lydia for your on target description.

Aunt Sue was quite a women. I first met her when I was a teenager & was & going out with her nephew. Later when we were married & I was in the hospital having our baby she made time to come & check in our son. It was here vacation time but she made it her business to check on us & that I would have formula for our son. She was a nice dresser & I remember her black hair & her deep scratchy voice. It's quite a feat to be a nurse for 60 years. She will be missed. But, she did lived a long colorful life. Jesus got himself quite an awesome Angel! I'm sure she will be helping out up in Heaven too!

May her soul/spirit rest with our Holy father.
I only had the honor of meeting her once, I wish I knew her better.
To her family, I´m so sorry for your loss and nothing I can say will make a difference. Just know, a person with her background, and with that much love in her heart, lived with our lord by her side every minute of every day.
Where she lives now, is in his arms...
RIP,
