Sofia Ryzewski

Sofia Ryzewski, age 79, of Northbrook; wife of Waclaw (Ziggy); loving mother of Albert Kuschel, Chris (Margaret) Ryzewski, and the late Greg Ryzewski; cherished grandmother of Zach, Luke and Ella Ryzewski, Joseph Keating, Nicole Thompson; great grandmother of Mason Thompson ; dear sister of Casimir Filek; devoted daughter of the late Wladyslaw and Elzbieta Filek.
Sofia was born in Salzburg Austria. She grew up in Venezuela before moving to the United States to attend college. She traveled the world as an agent for TWA in the late 60's and early 70's before turning to a career as a florist and running a flower shop in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago. She and the family then moved to Northbrook where she raised her awesome and handsome sons. She later went back to her floral passion, opening a flower shop in Mount Prospect.
In retirement she was afflicted with OCD (Obsessive Cruising Disorder), taking numerous trips throughout the Caribbean as well as several in Europe. We love and remember her as a passionate woman, fluent in three languages (Polish, Spanish, and English), an avid gambler, and world traveler. We are glad her long suffering has come to an end but will miss her dearly.
