It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Sol Lucy Cruz, who left this world on September 27, 2025, after a courageous and unrelenting fight with angiosarcoma of the liver, a rare and aggressive liver cancer. She was 67 years old ~ the beloved wife of Orlando, her partner in life since September 1981, and the devoted mother of her only daughter, Ashley, as well as a proud grandmother of Julian and Aliyah.

Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, Lucy carried the island in her heart throughout her life. She was passionate, resilient, and deeply emotional ~ a woman who loved fiercely, felt deeply, and whose presence left an impact on everyone she touched. She faced countless hardships throughout her life, yet time and time again, she overcame them with a strength that seemed impossible.

Her love reached far beyond her immediate family. She played a profound role in the lives of her niece and nephew, Jamie and Eric, who remained central to her heart and whom she loved deeply. Her bond with Jamie's children, Josh and Juliana, brought her immense joy, and she treasured the time she spent as their grandmother figure.

Her life was not without challenges, nor was her relationship with those she loved always simple, but she taught through example what it meant to persist, to survive, and to never give up. Even in her final days, she fought with every ounce of her will, holding on long enough to say goodbye and feel the love of her family.

She will be remembered for her passion, her stubborn courage, her love of family and culture, and her tireless commitment to ensuring that those she loved were cared for.

She is survived by her husband Orlando, daughter Ashley, her grandchildren Julian and Aliyah, her niece Jamie (and children Josh and Juliana), her nephew Eric, her father Teodoro, her sisters Yvette and Wendy, and her brother Melvin. She is also survived by many family and friends who will carry her memory forward.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Cecilia, and her brother, Luis Omel.
