Solomon Olugbemi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Metropolitan Funeral Service - Portsmouth Chapel on Jan. 26, 2026.
Pa Solomon Olulami Olugbemi was born on Friday, August 20, 1940, at Olugbemi Village in Oluyole Local Government Area of Ibadan, Oyo State, to Pa Ezekiel Olutade Olugbemi and Mama Marian Okunlola Olugbemi.

He attended St. David's Primary School, Kudeti, Ibadan, and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1954. A man of resilience and industry, he began his career in Lagos in 1957 as an apprentice with CFAO Motors, Apapa, where he trained as an automotive painter. He later worked with UTC Motors and Bewac Motors before entering public service.

Pa Olugbemi joined the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) on December 1, 1962, and served diligently for nineteen years, retiring voluntarily in 1981 as an Executive Officer. He continued his administrative career with Surulere Clinics X-Ray Centre Group, retiring in 1993 as an Administrative Manager. He later ventured into commodity trading under Lami Olugbemi and Sons Enterprises until his retirement in 2003, after which he relocated to the United States to live with his children.

He married Mrs. Monilola Apeke Olugbemi (née Azeez) in 1966, and they were blessed with children. Following her passing in 1976, he remarried Mrs. Fatima Adetoyin Olugbemi (née Fatai) in 1986, and their union was also blessed with children.

A devoted born-again Christian, Pa Olugbemi was an elder in the Hospitality Group of Living Faith Church, Canaanland, Ota. He was known for his wisdom, discipline, generosity, and love for family. His life of service and positive impact will remain a lasting legacy.

As the Patriarch of the Olugbemi family, Pa Solomon is survived by his siblings, nephews, nieces, cousins, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
