SOLVEIG ROYNESDAL

ROYNESDAL, Solveig, of Midlothian, Va., died Monday, January 16, 2012 at the age of 89 at St. Francis Medical Center. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Rolf; her two children, Edward Roynesdal and Susan Eisenhower; their two spouses, Mary Roynesdal and Fred Eisenhower; and four grandchildren, Kristin Roynesdal, Edward Eisenhower, Kari Ann Roynesdal and Elizabeth Eisenhower. She was the last survivor of four sisters and five brothers. Solveig was born in Korshamn, Norway, in 1922 and came to America after World War ll, where she met her husband, Rolf, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She worked as a registered nurse with newborns in Brooklyn and Staten Island for 45 years and was active in the Lutheran Church, singing in the choir, and especially enjoyed baking and gardening with her favorite "roses." The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday January, 18, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street, Glen Allen, Va. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2315 North Parham Road, Henrico, Va. Interment will follow at Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia.
