Sondra F. Mitchell

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Sondra Mitchell, of Oakdale, NY, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She passed away peacefully on June 14 at the age of 87. 

Sondra was born on December 5, 1936 to Joseph and Lee Fadale. Sondra attended SUNY Oneonta where she met the love of her life, James (Jim) Mitchell. The two married on June 27, 1958 and were blessed with a daughter, Jessica, and a son James (Jamie). Being a mother was Sondra’s calling. Jess and Jamie were the light of her life. Sondra’s heart filled even more when she became the adoring grandmother, or “Baba”, to Maddy and Owen Judd, and Amelia and Sabrina Mitchell.

Sondra loved visiting New York City to attend Broadway musicals, enjoy artwork at The Met, and shop at Macy’s Herald Square. When she was home, Sondra loved starting her day with a cup of coffee and watching Channel 7 news with her cat, Joey.

Sondra was predeceased by her husband Jim in 2016. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jessica Mitchell-Judd, Christopher Judd, Jamie Mitchell and Jennifer Mitchell, and her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends, who will remember her big heart, her cheery disposition, and her kindness.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June, 19th at Moloney's Bohemia Funeral Home. Memorial Visitation from 3:30-6:00 PM.
