Sonia Hambrick Myers, age 75, entered Heaven's gate on January 20, 2024, in Rockwall, Texas after a brief illness.
Sonia was born on January 30, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to Thomas and Marion Hambrick.
Sonia graduated from Samuel High School in 1966 and went on to earn her Bachelors and Master Degree at the same time from East Texas State University in May of 1975. She started her career as a teacher and went on to work for many Dallas schools for 29 years.
Sonia married Raymond Haskell Myers, Jr on May 24, 1969 in Dallas . The couple had 2 children, Patrick and Michael Myers. Ray and Sonia were also home builders in Forney, Texas for 20 years. Sonia was best known for her love in building houses, as well as her love of teaching.
Sonia is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Raymond Haskell Myers, Jr of Forney, Texas; son, Michael Myers and wife Laressa of Forney; grandson, Royce Jackson Myers; sister, Martha Struck and husband Steve of Scurry, Texas; sister's-in-law, Janie Vogel of Brentwood, Tennessee and Barbara Baker and husband James of Amarillo, Texas. Sonia also leaves behind many close friends from all over Texas.
She is preceded in death by her son, Patrick Myers; her brother, Tomy Hambrick and parents, Thomas and Marion Hambrick.
The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Sonia Myers will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 2, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Forney, Texas.
