AUBURN - Sonia Elizabeth Rahe, 88, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, in Mequon, Wisconsin.
She was born on Sept. 18, 1937, in Moline, Illinois, to Oke and Agda Anderson.
Sonia married Arthur Geo. Rahe on Dec. 19, 1964, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rock Island, Illinois.
She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1955, and received her B.A. degree in Education from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, in 1959. She also received a M.S. degree in Education from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne in 1974.
While at Augustana College, she was a member of Sigma Pi Delta Sorority.
In 1998,
Mrs. Rahe retired from elementary school teaching after 28 years in the profession. She taught first grade for 20 years at J. E. Ober Elementary School, Garrett, Indiana. She also taught for the DeKalb Central School District (Indiana), Lake Zurich, Illinois School District and the Rock Island, Illinois Public Schools.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn, Indiana. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. For many years she and her husband enjoyed camping and traveling. Cooking, gardening, reading and music were her favorite pastimes.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Glenn Christenson, of Bayside, Wisconsin; and granddaughters, Anna and Elizabeth; and her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Mia Rahe, of Chicago. She has numerous relatives in this country as well as in Sweden, her parent's homeland.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years; her parents, Oke and Agda Anderson; and her brother, Ernest Donald Anderson.
A Christian funeral service will be held at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Aurora, Indiana, on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, 10 a.m., with burial following at Riverview Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn and to the DeKalb County Animal Shelter.
