Sonna Lee Gawne

SONNA LEE GAWNE Sonna Lee (Charters) Gawne, age 85 of Prescott, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at The Villa at West Branch. She was born on January 1, 1940, to Ardie and Lelia (Jackson) Charters in West Branch, MI. Sonna was part of the very first graduation class of Whittemore-Prescott High School in 1957. On July 25, 1959, she married Ron Gawne, and together they celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing in August of 2021. Sonna is survived by her children; Mark (Kristi) Gawne, Mike Gawne, and Pam (Neal) Munsey, grandchildren; Andrew Gawne, Zachary Protsman, Jacob (Chelsie) Gawne, Phil (Jennifer) Bellor, Shannon (Jake) Juillett, and Shelby Munsey, great grandchildren; Ana, Ariel, Nash, Westin, and Cooper; siblings; Keith (Carolyn) Charters, Marcia Tuma, and Julie (Tony) Urbanski. In addition to her husband Ron, she is preceded in death by her parents and son Ronald Lee. The family will receive guests from 1:00 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the Buresh Funeral Home (101 Harrison Street, Prescott, Michigan 48756). An additional time of visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church (5315 Henderson Lake Road, Prescott, Michigan 48756). A funeral will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Ed Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at the Richland Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sonna to her family or to Faith Lutheran Church.
