Sonny Jones, 88, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Redmond Talley and Larry Dyar officiating. Burial will be at Corinth Missionary Baptist Cemetery.
Born on January 6, 1937, to Emmett and Ethel Filyaw Jones. Sonny was a true man of God and dedicated church member. He was the co-founder of The Corinthians Southern Gospel Quartet as well as the Cavaliers, Wrenditions, and others. His passion for playing piano and singing gospel music was known throughout the south east.
Survivors include his son, Timothy (Cathy) Jones; granddaughter, Candice Jones; one brother, Roger Dale Jones; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Jones; parents, Emmett and Ethel Jones; five brothers, Melvin Jones, Joel Jones, Kermit Jones, Clinton Jones, and Robert Jones; three sisters, Paralee Richardson, Mattie Lee Morris, and Bobbie Glover.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at Huntsville Hospital.
