Sonny Boyd Smith passed away in his sleep in the early morning hours

of Friday, December 19th, 2025. Sonny was born in Arnett, Oklahoma

on January 11, 1937. He was the eleventh child of fourteen (one stillborn

sibling). His father, Samuel, and mother, Beulah, moved their 13

children to Portland, Oregon where he attended Rockwood Grade

School and later attended Gresham High in Gresham, Oregon. Sonny

moved to Moses Lake, Washington in the 1950's and worked as an

electrician first at U&I Sugar and then at Hanford in the 1980's. He met

and married Jeanette (Jenny) Broady on May 24, 1958. The couple

built a beautiful life and family in Moses Lake. Together they had three

children, Vincent (Cindy), John (Sarah) and Diana. Sonny and Jenny

were blessed to live close to the family they created, including their 5

grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

They were married for 61 years when Jenny passed away in 2019.

Sonny enjoyed spending summers on the pontoon boat, attending the

Grant County Fair, camping trips in the motorhome and sitting around

the house playing music with the family while stomping his foot to his

harmonica. In his later years he loved going dancing at the Senior

Center with his great granddaughter Hannah. He was preceded in

death by his wife Jenny, and his three children, Vincent, John, and

Diana. He is survived by his grandchildren Vince (Kristen), Joe (Loria),

Shawna, Adam (Jessica) and Parker. He will be remembered for his

resilience, firm-handshake and the love he had for his large family.
