Sonny Stevens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A Better Place Funeral & Cremation Services on Feb. 11, 2026.
"Sonny" Clarence Henry Stevens had five children, twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. May the Lord be constituted in all these, amen.

Our sweet Papa has left us for paradise to be with our Lord and Savior, whom he loved and followed, and to reunite with his sweetheart Eileen of 70 years. It has been an honor to know, love, and care for him, and to see how the Lord arranged things, all glory to Him. He is the One we thank and praise for all He has done-this One who lived in and filled Papa. Lord, we thank You for Papa's life and all the lives he touched. He helped and cared for all selflessly. He was our Papa, and we loved him. He was a pattern living Christ, and he will be missed.

Love, The Abeyta Family

Our Dad,

* He loved the Lord.

* He led many people to the Lord.

* His favorite hobbies were enjoying the Lord and oil painting.

* He was one of the best mechanics of his time.

* He would give you the shirt off his back.

We love you, Dad. Love, Matt & Monica

My Dad was one of the kindest men I've ever known. If someone needed help, he helped them. It didn't matter who they were or how much work it was going to be. He just did it. That was Dad.

He did everything himself. I don't remember him ever hiring anyone to fix something. If something broke, he fixed it. If something needed to be built, he built it. He would work for hours on the house and never complain. He just believed in taking care of things on his own.

Dad loved to paint. His paintings are hanging in the homes of the people he loved - including mine. Every time I look at them, I think of him.

He led by example, especially when it came to love. He loved Mom more deeply than anyone I've ever seen love another person. The way he treated her, especially after we kids were gone and his work life was over, showed me what a husband should be. He gave me the greatest gift of my life when he introduced me to my wife. I love her with all my heart - not just because of who she is, but because of the kind of love I saw between my Mom and Dad. That means more to me than I can say.

After Mom passed, Dad and I spent more time together than we ever had before. We'd go out for breakfast or lunch and just sit and talk. I got to know him in a way I hadn't before. I'll always be thankful for those years. I'll miss those meals. I'll miss him every day.

I love you, Dad. - Chris

Who was my father to me? He was my hero, mentor, strength, rock, my Dad, and my Daddy; he will forever be! He was so many things to me, and many others. He was always there, making himself available to help anyone without judgment. He was an extremely loving and giving person!

The most important gift of all, he gave me, was being a Man of God! Watching him love serving the Lord, praising the Lord, sharing the Lord's love, grace, and mercy to all he met. His true love for the Lord and the Lord's needs were taught to me by him. But the real teaching was in his living by example! Thank You, Daddy, for loving me and giving me the gift of the Lord's love for me! I am now able to spend the rest of my life in eternity!

You are and will always be my Forever ray of Sunshine, Daddy. Until I see you again, know that my love for you has no ending!

I Love You, Forever Your Little Girl Deborah

Ephesians 6:4

Praise the Lord!

Dedication to Dad

My dad loved people, and he loved the Lord. When I was a small boy, we were in church every Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and every Wednesday evening at Garden Grove Assembly of God. It was there that I met God and Jesus. Dad even drove the Sunday school bus, going into neighborhoods to pick up kids and bring them to Sunday school. I remember riding with him and sitting up front, feeling proud to be by his side. Those memories mean more to me now than ever.

It was very important to him to teach his kids how to make a living in life. He told me at a young age, "Nothing is free in life - you have to earn it." After school, he had me taking apart cars and engines while I was still very young. He got me a job at a machine shop in junior high, disassembling complete engines. I hated getting greasy at the time, but he was teaching me discipline, responsibility, and how to work hard. In high school, he helped me get a job at an automotive body and paint repair shop as a painter's helper, where I learned how to paint cars. Looking back, I see how much time and effort he put into shaping my future.

I have passed his work ethic on to my children. And I have also passed on the love he had - and that we share - for the Lord Jesus Christ in our lives. That may be the greatest gift he ever gave me.

Dad will never be forgotten. He lives in my heart forever, and he lives in the hearts of everyone who ever knew him.

I love you, Dad. - Bruce
