Sophie Dorothy Guzman

Sophie Dorothy Guzman (Novich), 73, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away on October 31st, 2025, at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana. Sophie was born December 19, 1951, in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Dorothy P. Novich and Eli Novich. Sophie attended Washinton High School in East Chicago, Indiana. Sophie became the loving wife to Armando Guzman Sr. on June 8th, 1968. Sophie was a kindhearted, caring woman. She enjoyed the beach, watching movies and going out to eat with her husband and family, playing weekly Bingo, listening to the latest pop hits, and of course, cats. Sophie will be remembered for being a loving and empathetic person. Preceding Sophie in death are parents, Dorothy P. and Eli Novich; brother, John Rantauskas; and sisters, Phyllis Rodriguez and Carol Engstrom. Remaining to cherish her memory are husband, Armando Guzman Sr; children and son and daughter-in-law, Sally Ann Joyce (Guzman), Rico Joyce, Armando Guzman Jr., and Verba Murphy-Guzman; sister, brother-in-law, and nephew, Mary Nohl (Novich), Vincent Nohl, and Joseph Nohl; grandchildren and grandson in law, Charla Celina Stephenson, Armanda Selina Guzman, Aleta Angel Eberle (Guzman), Steven Eberle, and Armando Guzman IV; and great-grandchild, Myles Atlas Eberle,. Service was held November 5th, 2025 at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette Indiana.
