Sophie K. Herchel

Sophie K. Herchel, aged 91, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of Zygmunt 'Zeke' Herchel, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Born in Central Falls, Sophie was the daughter of the late Ignac and Mary (Szydlo) Skrzyniarz. She had been a resident of Cumberland for the past 64 years, having previously lived in Central Falls.
Sophie dedicated 33 years of her life working as a factory worker at Hindley Manufacturing Inc. until her retirement. She was a devoted communicant of St. Joseph Church in Central Falls. Sophie found joy in bowling, polka dancing, and most importantly, spending cherished moments with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Zygmunt 'Zeke' Herchel, her sister, Dolores Plouffe of Glocester, and many nieces and nephews. Sophie was predeceased by her sister, Stella Burda, and her brother, John Skrzyniarz.
Her funeral and burial will be private.
