I am so sorry for your great loss. The Shorey's are close friends of mine, and this tragedy is felt far and wide. Thank you for this young man's service to our Country and for the lives he touched.

Dear Grella family I'm so sorry for you loss mike was a great friend and a even better classmate he would always make you smile and laugh he will be greatly missed.

I was Michael's squad leader for most of the time he was in the military until I left recently at the end of January. He was a hard worker and an even better soldier. He was always smiling and joking and I'm deeply saddened to hear the news. I got to know him very well while being his squad leader and while on a mission in San Diego. I'm glad and proud I was able to serve with him. We went snowboarding together the last weekend I lived in Virginia so I'm glad I was able to do that as well. He will be missed , and he will always be a soldier. R.I.P SPC Grella.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mike was such an amazing person. Though I didn't know him well after middle school, I was lucky enough to be his cousin and his classmate. I will never forget his goofy smile back in the fourth grade when he made our entire class laugh every day. He will be missed by countless people and will never be forgotten. My prayers goes out to Joe and Joanne and their whole family. I'm soooo sorry for your loss. you know Michael ran right up to GOD and gave him one of his big hugs that made everyone feel so good. I gave Michael some of his driving lessons and I being an outdoorsman all he wanted to talk about were my adventures from Africa to Alaska and back to the woods of West Gloucester. as soon as he got into the car, it was hey Cuz where you been lately.I'm in Arizona till spring, but my hearts in Gloucester with all of you.GOD bless Michael and all of Gloucester.

Joe and Joanne I cannot emagin what it must be like to loose a child by such an early death. You both are faith filled and Jesus will be your strength.

Dear Joanne and Joe, my heart is breaking over the loss of your son. What a handsome young man. Sorry we have lost touch over the years, you and Joe are wonderful people. I retired and live in Venice, Fl during the winter with my two Daschounds. Gary and I go back and forth all winter. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. So sad to hear about the loss of Mike.... he truly lit up any room with his smile .... my heart goes out to the family... Sending lots of prayers during this difficult time.

Your son Michael Grella, was a great soldier, learner, worker but most of all a great person. He had an abundance of talent and charisma that was going to take him far in his military career and life. I was an NCO in his platoon from the time he graduated AIT until I moved to a new position, but even though he was considered wet behind the ears he always took the opportunity to get in front and learn from the best our unit has to offer him. When I heard the news of his passing, I literally felt sick to my stomach and felt like my heart had just sunk. I thought someone was playing a cruel joke. The pain of his passing will be with me and I know with you his family and longtime friends forever but just know he was one the soldiers with the brightest futures. Rest Easy SPC Michael Grella.
